1. Changes in WITS Format
A. Difference in Singles & doubles division for players in both leagues
- Singles and Doubles Division levels can differ up to 2 levels, allowing Players to progress organically (up to a limit)
- Doubles B – Singles can be C/Beta/B/Alpha/A
- Singles Alpha – Doubles can be Beta/B/Alpha/A/Prem B
B. Line 1 Scoring
Assign greater weight to Line 1 wins (3 points)
Since Line 1 is typically played by the strongest pair based on ranking totals, it makes sense to reward those wins more significantly.
WITS wants to incentivize stronger players to play L1 more often
Benefits of this approach:
- Encourages captains to rank players correctly
- Removes the need for the current ranking point movement rule (up/down 4 places)
- With the new scoring system, ties are less likely, and it’s easier to determine clear scores and standings
- Helps maintain the correct level of competition across all lines
C. Roster rankings
Update to Rule 8.8 – Removal of Ranking Movement Restriction
Effective immediately, the “Ranking Movement Rule”—which previously allowed a movement of only 4 ranking positions up or down per season—is no longer required and will be removed
This change has been made to reduce unnecessary administrative overhead and allow for more flexibility in adjusting player rankings based on current form and team dynamics.
